The car I was most surprised to find fun was my friend's 1985 Mazda 626 with a manual, which I drove occasionally from 1994-1996. It was a no-frills model on steel wheels. It didn't even have power steering. It was more fun than my 1988 Grand Am SE, which had a turbo and gobs of torque steer.
