I think you misunderstand. Apple charges $200 for an out of warranty refurb replacement unit.

Yeah because everyone upgrades to the newest iPhone as soon as it come out right? I have a bunch of friends who are still using a 3G or a 3Gs. Hell, I even have a friend still using the original iPhone. Upgrading to the 4S is a welcome upgrade to them.
