I actually quite liked Serial Mom and I thought the one joke worked the whole time

I'm in the small minority that loved From A Buick 8 so I'm curious about this.

Loved this film and its amazing how well it works considering how weird it is. I mean a main subplot of the film involves a sentient freeway sign that can control the weather. This film would never be made today.

I remember trying to read Tree of Smoke and found it obnoxious and almost unreadable. It actually put me off trying his other books. Maybe I should try one.

are we talking about the move Beach or the book. Because the book was great.

Funny I also read it around 16. I picked it up blind having heard nothing about and as a kid in a small town (Franklin to be exact) it had a massive impact on me. Still a great book but that's interesting we both cam to it at the same time.

The best thing Garland has done is still his first thing, the novel The Beach which still holds up as a wonderful book.

Great book but then again the book was more of a character study and not really a mystery.

I've never understood the hatred for Death Cab. Except for Code An keys which fell flat for me they write very good albums. It seems like they're are so many band and artists on this site who get hate for everything else except for their actual music which is the only thing one should discuss. Its lame.

This was such a beautiful deeply sad film. I've never cared for Keilor or his radio program but I found to be surprisingly affecting.

I think PTA assisted because they were best friends. He was actually going to assist on Gosford Park but couldn't due to Punch Drunk Love

I really doubt WB would have Burton back considering the direction they are going with Batman

I'm always baffled why people consider Anton Ego a negative portrait of critics. I'm assuming people walked out of the movie before his ultimate reveal where he stands up and supports the interesting and new. His monologue/review if pretty blunt about necessity of critcism.

For those who have seen it in the comments is it better than The Master? That movie was terrible and the first Anderson film that I hated. Please tell me this is better,

He did a complete 180 with Punch Drunk Love which was before Blood. And The Master sucks.

I feel like the first i heard of her was Tony nominated turn in Whos Afraid of Virgina Wolf from a year or two ago

That scene scared the hell out of me the first time I saw it.

Loved Frances Ha. Curious to see what I think of Young

I still waiting for an Ellroy book that I loved as much as Big Nowhere. But then again I am also waiting for him to write long sentences again which will probably not happen.

Aside from Atonement I thought Black Dogs and Enduring Love were great novels.
