After owning CCS enabled EVs for 6 years, suffering through a network of 20 different companies - each with different logins (which never seem to remember me w/ auto-sign-in), stations in various states of disrepair, drivers who dont sign in to Plugshare (so you have to wait for a busy stall), and overall inconvenient

Not to mention that the Lordstown looks like someone farted out a Photoshop EV render of an old Silverado.

Lordstown is plucky and I give them a lot of credit for even getting to the point where they had a certified truck available for sale and in “production”. But who on earth is going to buy a Lordstown Anything when a better and cheaper electric truck is simultaneously available from a company that people have actually

Why the Leaf? Its ANCIENT technology. Bolt is better in literally every way, including price.

We just drove from Oregon to LA in a Tesla. No wait at any charging station traveling on I-5 between SF and LA and every charging station worked perfectly. There were places with 50+ superchargers and 7 vehicles charging. We travelled on a Friday and Saturday. There are all kinds of headlines about waits to charge but

Now playing

Marques Brownlee did a video a few days ago on this very subject:

Both springback and crumpling problems are the result of faster work hardening in stainless steel relative to carbon steel. The crumple zone thing is just a math problem. You can certainly account for decreased plastic energy dissipation in the structural design. But if boy wonder already had a product launch before

Why have a price cap at all if the goal is to increase EV adoption for environmental reasons?

Putting aside the question of whether someone buying a new Cadillac EV needs a government subsidy at all...

Probably just “Mustang”. We’re getting to the point where so many offerings from certain car makers are EV, that they don’t need to put an EV sounding name in the model or trim name, since it’s just implied. Genesis GV60, etc.

Yeah Elon Musk is a douchbag, we all agree. If I had the option of putting a dollar in Elon’s pocket vs. Putin or King Salman or the late Hugo Chavez, I’ll take Elon any day.

Do you ever wonder how this keeps coming up?

I actually traded in a Porsche 911 for my “slow” i3. The i3 is actually so much more fun to drive around town than the 911 was.

An EV is absolutely more environmentally friendly. They start out with a significant disadvantage, but the efficiency in using energy catches up quick. Even if the entire electrical grid was oil and coal, an EV would be a better choice.

Oil company execs are famously not douchebags

How is some bozo who bitches about the inconvenience of cross-country trekking an EV always the top comment on these articles?

  • EVs are more eco-friendly. Even if your electricity is generated 100% by coal/natural gas it’s still better for the environment due to increased efficiency with a larger turbine generating the energy vs a tiny one in an ICE. on top of that because electricity is agnostic you can charge it anywhere without needing to

Now THIS is good Jalopnik! Please chief editor > MORE OF THIS!

Perfectly analyzed and summarized. The article was full of fallacies and asymmetrical assumptions throughout.

Boyfriend and I go camping, usually in his Panamera. We get some weird looks, but the offroad suspension mode sure comes in handy getting to sites in the mountains, and you get to drive a Porsche when you want to go somewhere. Highly recommend!
