Look, someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about, so they can only regurgitate nonsense and not actually rebut my points.

LOL, even your own source disagrees with you and completely agrees with me.

Depending on type, costs could be twice as much. Sorry for getting into the weeds, but look at cheapest pickup, Maverick versus cheapest BEV pickup.

Let’s see, if I’m shopping for a new 7 passenger vehicle, I’m left with the Tesla Model X for a “new” vehicle. Price tag of $116k for a base model. Meanwhile a modestly loaded 3rd row gas CUV can be had for under $50k. So I guess you’re right, it’s not double, it’s more than double.

The new rules don’t kick in until January 1st, 2023 so the entire list is still valid. Try again without sounding like a fool.

The infrastructure out here (southern california) is getting to the point that long trips are fairly seamless. Say a trip here to the Bay Area is almost as straightforward as using an ICE.

Edit: I get planning out routes since I like driving and go out for long drives, but my mom would never plan for this shit. My dad (who owns a Etron GT) doesn’t plan for this shit and still haven’t figured out that he needs to look for 150-350 kW chargers to actually charge up in 20 minutes.

Nader should be pleased to know NHTSA is already investigating the automaker at least 11 crashes where a car with FSD activated crashed into stationary vehicles at first responder scenes.

Or is the goal to get people to buy EVs: Bolts instead of Trax(es?), Lightnings instead of gas F150s, Rivians instead of gas Range Rovers.

Agreed. The cap is dumb if the goal is supporting US EV manufacturers and maximizing EV purchases, so I hope they do it.

Outrage from who, us or the people actually buying their vehicles? Rivian said they are on track to meet their annual sales goal after quarter 2 of this year. I don’t know why anyone would be outraged that a low volume manufacturer of up market vehicles raised their prices.

I dunno about that. So far, the Leaf, the Bolt, the Mini, the Hyundai Kona, and the Kia Niro have all been cheaper than Teslas.

I mean, will it though? Are there *really* people buying $80-$120k pick up trucks that are having their decision swayed by $7500?

if your EV isn’t made here, it doesn’t qualify for full benefits. That means vehicles from Toyota, Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, Mazda, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, and even Tesla cars built in Germany or China would be ineligible. Have fun with your Hummers and ID.4s, I guess.

Does Tesla import cars to the US from Germany and China?

Exactly. They’ll just say: “Ugh, this darn inflation!”

I pay approximately (it varies with amount used and the seasons) $1.16 per kwh.

What if your grandma’s dying wish is to ride a horse that happens to be on the other side of the country, and you have just 36 hours to get it there? THEN WHAT!? Checkmate, EVs!

I used to own a Tesla with an all-glass roof in Florida, and I’m tall, so closer to the roof.

How did you reach that conclusion? Any existing Tesla would struggle to make that drive “sans charger” even in ideal conditions. Motor Trend and others have already done it in the Air with plenty of charge to spare. It just objectively has more range.
