So, how does he know it’s THAT issue and not the particle contamination issue? A manufacturing issue? A supply issue? A dry electrode issue? Or just a desire to use the cells elsewhere? Or realizing they can’t make a Plaid+ that’s enough faster than a Plaid to be worth the price increase and R&D inputs?

I think it’s pretty clear that PART of the reason is that the idea of the Plaid+ is delaying sales of the “regular” Plaid Model S.

This tells me A) the 4860 batteries have severe cooling issues that cannot be resolved, and B) There will be no 500+ mile CyberTruck like all the Teslastans keep talking about. Also, I’m getting the feeling that Tesla is having a cash flow issue on top of the other production issues from parts shortages.

The 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery is rated for a 175 mile range

VW ID.4.

Agreed. And frunks are about equal parts useful feature and party trick. Useful for storing charging cables, I suppose, so you don’t have to rummage around your other cargo to get at them but beyond that? Meh.

Umm, the whole article is about the i4, but the tweet about the roundel refill feature is an iX, not an i4.

Third party fast DC chargers aren’t as fast as Superchargers

[Disclaimer: Other EVs absolutely will be successful... and already are in some cases. The etron is a great option. The Mach E is a legit Tesla competitor. The F150 is going to sell as many as they can build and I have a reservation for one. I also bought Ford stock a while back because I think they’re going to be

Awesome.

Interesting. Thanks.

The base model Dodge Journey may not have been a great car, but as a three-row family car with a warranty, you’re not going to find a cheaper option. It made sense for a lot of families.

To say nothing of the promises on value that are never delivered (see:30k model 3 circa 2018).

What’s the over-under on how many Ford F-150 Lightings Ford will sell in its first year?

1st gear: Lordstown is flailing, and Ford’s General Manager North American Commercial Business is rubbing it in:

Yeah, I mean, you really just have to look at your personal use case.

Thanks. My dealer is the largest volume F-150 dealer on earth (they say), so presumably they can make it happen, if necessary.

Makes sense. Ford specifically says “no fleet is too small” haha.

Agreed. Pretty much makes my decision easy if I can’t get the big battery in the Pro.

Can you clarify if retail consumers can buy the Pro *with the 300-mile battery?*
