That’s a problem, but that isn’t what happened here.

I know there are drag strips that have banned EVs because they’re not comfortable dealing with potential fires, etc. I’m not sure if any road courses have done the same.
the Taycan is nothing like a Panamera.
I put down a refundable deposit on a MINI Cooper SE recently. When I ended up buying a different MINI elsewhere, it took months to get my $500 back.
I’m excited for fun/track focused EVs. The closest would be the Taycan, at this point, and it’s very capable, but it’s still like a Panamera. Great and theoretically capable, but probably not seeing a lot of track days.
I’ve driven R53s. And my R56 was a Cooper, purposely ordered with near-zero options, no sunroof, etc. It probably weighed a 150-200lb less than a typical R53 (a lot of it up front ditching the iron block, supercharger, intercooler, etc.), so I’m comfortable saying it was competitive in feel to many R53s.
I really hope they’re teasing an actual, production, track-capable GP-E and this isn’t just a distant-future concept or a regular Cooper SE. Someone is putting in a new, fast CCS charger in Sebring, FL, and I’d love to track a electric GP.
Every Mini since the R53 has been hot garbage
Yes, they’re already building the new goatee ones.
This is an entirely valid question to ask, especially if you’ve coughed up ten grand (plus the cost of the car) for a suite of technological capabilities that you’ve yet to see.
All new-ish Teslas have the same hardware (cameras, computer, etc.).
No other technology follows that path. Technology gets cheaper as it matures.
Didn’t know that. Does it work when the car is off?
That or press the right steering wheel button and say “open glovebox”
No, it isn’t because it will automatically put the car in park if you open the door.
Well, my kids are similar age, but homeschooled, so we’re rarely dropping them off, vs. 5 times a week. So, yeah, it’s going to come down to use case, really.
That range extender does not work like you think it does.
If the REX is a good idea, wouldn’t the Volt be a better extension of that idea? (aside from the fact that an i3 is a much funner car to drive)
Bolt is a great fit for this use case, for sure.
Agreed. It would be way more versatile if it was allowed to work as designed. Fortunately, it’s easy/cheap to fix, but unfortunate that it doesn’t just work that way, anyway.
