Yeah, I’m aware of that, and in combination with the plastic motor mount and roof issues, I sold my last i3 to Carvana for way too much money.

They’ve only been out for about a year and the cheapest one was $22,500 after tax credit, so I really doubt he’ll find one for close to $15k, BUT if anyone does see one for that price, let me know and I’ll buy it. haha

If it’s super cheap and has plenty of range for a really short commute? It’s a good choice. One of the cheapest cars to buy/own/power.

i3 - OK, but not worth $1000's more than a Leaf or eGolf unless you are really into its appearance.

The i3 is a great option and has a combination of several things that make it superior to other options, especially if you want to use it for more than just around town (and some downsides, too):

i3 is also RWD, unlike most of the other cheap EVs.

It looks like a Smart ForTwo Fatboy.

Hmm, I read it as having far fewer possible combinations, aka, not as many a la carte options.

I’d think that the people shelling out $100k+ for an S-class would be the ones that would care, though.

only to find that both EV chargers that were advertised at the hotel were completely out of order. I had even called-ahead to confirm they had functioning chargers, but I guess they didn’t actually check before saying “yes”.

3rd Gear:

Agreed. Some people want (or need) smaller cars. I love MINIs and do road trips with 2 adults and 2 kids in the regular 3-door hardtop, so I’m on board with small cars, and really dislike unnecessarily large cars.

New Bolts were in the mid 20s with GM discounts. Plus not everyone wants a giant vehicle.

Yeah, Model 3 isn’t the most engaging car out there, but it’s better than 98% of new cars, so in a relative sense, it’s not a penalty box is my point. It’s a sport sedan with great power, good handling, and an automatic with zero millisecond shifts. There are new cars that I’d rather drive, for sure, but the list is

IIRC, it’s specifically a Fiat 500X doing a Wrangler cosplay.

None of the cars I’ve owned fall under “penalty box”, in my opinion. The Model 3 drives quite well and, of course, is pretty quick. And the UI is fine for me. I rarely interact with it, just like I rarely interact with my BMW, MINI, VW, etc. infotainment. Other people must be using their vehicles much differently than

Yeah, looks-wise, the Renegade is kind of adorable and comes in cool colors. It’s a happy car and I’m glad they exist in a sea of boring. But it’s not for people who *actually* want to off-road. They either a) don’t care or b) just like thinking it can, but won’t ever find out whether it’s true or not... which means

Great article.

This is on par or faster than everything gas powered in it’s class size and price class.

It’s a VW - there will be another $4-5K discount beyond that.
