I recently checked out Girl, Stop Apologizing from the library because I was curious about her. I was really impressed that, at the end of the book, the last big takeaway to her (mostly white and Christian) readers is that they need more inclusion and diversity in their lives and businesses.

Nothing is “deserving” of obsessive fandom. We don’t get to choose what people (especially teenage girls) are into.

I don’t think she’s criticizing the artists she mentioned, or throwing them under the bus. She’s saying how they can sing about anything they want and she can’t. I’m not saying whether her argument holds up or not, but that’s my take on it.
