I think that’s what is confusing me about the role of the press here. There’s probably a very, very good market to just kind of clean up what is actually being said and not actually create more noise (there’s more than enough already).

There actually was a fairly decent article Kotaku ran recently that was pretty down

I think there was some complaint about Diablo resetting characters every season. Not sure if that was true or not, just that it was causing people to gnash their teeth.

You’re not wrong that it’s OK for people to want to see themselves represented. This works for every demographic btw.

I dunno. I feel like people need to start owning their own purchasing decisions rather than blaming companies for it. If it’s that big of an issue, play for 1 season and then cancel and go do something else.

The interesting sub-topic there, is how many white characters were written with every-man/woman characterizations. So using your Miles Morales standard, really it’s almost never going to apply unless a character is specifically a 1st or 2nd generation immigrant (and even then, it gets sketchy). Most of these

I mean it’s tricky right? AI is already used for things like deaging and I think few would actually argue that that isn’t a good use for it.

To some extent yes. Just like soundtracks, when people signal that a part of a production is ancillary and not needed, Studios tend to respond by looking to cut cost which is why every film score often feels kind of replaceable these days. You can look at what Hans Zimmer does and argue he kicks a lot of people out of

The difference here is Professional vs. Amateur which to me is the difference between pick up Soccer and playing for Manchester United.

I think once the supply chain issue was cleared up, that’s the point most fans would have tolerated terminating new game development.

Hey - that fire source has to come from somewhere.  I watched Kobayashi Dragon Maid Damnit!

This is definitely where I think the whole debate tends to fall on its face. Usually when people talk about representation, they usually aren’t talking about games that only some people recognize. They’re usually talking AAA to well known games.

More Mass Effect, Horizon, and Zelda ... less Max Payne.

It’s worth noting, the original Zelda formula was really only in 3 games with only 1 appearing on any specific system - Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, and Link’s Awakening on the NES, SNES, and Game Boy respectively.

I think so many fans fall into the trap of just not getting when “you’re not the target audience” anymore. I went through it.

That’s easy - because where your eyes notice it are in the movement.

So... umm...

As long as someone doesn’t mind turning the OT into a pretzel, you can spin things however you want. There’s also two questions that often get entangled that should not:

Which is totally fine I think.

Having known people that were in cross-generational relationships, that’s a big yes.

I mean for me, yes there is.
