I mean Fey is also one of the first showrunners/lead writers I’ve seen in SNL history where her casts kept showing up and not leaving.

It may also have a bit to do with what happened to journalism over time. Granted, coverage has always gone to the major players first and foremost. But there was a period there when it felt like all the coverage moved to them (instead of most) whether that was by design or because those companies were pushing for that.

I’m a strange person in that I am not in support of the merger but Sony’s/FTC’s arguments here are bad and shouldn’t stand.  Sony should also be looked at for their behavior in the Japan market by using exclusivity to prevent newcomers.

In law, you attack the argument your opponent makes. All of us can find the market definition bullshit, but if Sony/FTC can’t even win legally in their own made up definition then they have a bad argument.

They’re Microsoft.

For people who read more than Kotaku, keep in mind WSJ and others in business are paying attention to this because there’s anticompetition but also trade policy implications.

Microsoft has attempted to increase market share in Japan before. So no, it’s not really a bullshit argument. It might not be a market they have exclusive focus on, but outright dismissing it is tantamount to saying the Xbox employees and agreements signed by Microsoft in Japan over the years are essentially bullshit.

The FTC did that. The FTC, in an effort to make look MS larger than they were removed Nintendo from their definition of that market, because the Call of Duty argument was insane if Nintendo was included.

In essence that is what expos/conferences are for a majority of industries.

Even if that’s true - at what point does she have agency?

Ultimately the Army and the Armed Forces in general are in a bit of a bind. The 2000's -2020's trend of appealing heavily to Republican leaning districts while effective sort of effectively soured the Armed Forces it seems almost entirely as a brand to half the country.

I dunno - I kinda feel like there’s a large chunk of people whom are perfectly fine with blocking Microsoft, IF the standards are applied evenly. The problem with these cases has been, they largely rest on standards that haven’t been applied in the recent past. If this is the start of applying it everywhere, kudos. If

The problem is rage clicks count the same as non-rage clicks.

I think the issue is, the Gawker blogosphere at one time WAS probably more even-keel and and usually didn’t logically or devolve into histrionics and there are some posters that remember that. When the Gawker readership did notice that Kotaku, io9, et. al had gone the direction of Jez they went to other blogs to find

In retrospect, Malenia is sort of bizarre in that she represents extremely poor balancing and design but that’s also why she became such a meme/popular character. Watching that character, which flat out just breaks specific builds and then is quiet manageable with others popularity is kind of fun. Because it sort of

At this point, there are 3 women to every 2 men in college so I wouldn’t actually be suprised in the near future if women’s only colleges were outright challenged for existing.

This is probably a more accurate take. All deference to Japanese developers in general, but Japan has a tendency to look to Japan for answers.

The difference is the transition from “topical” to “time capsule”. If you look at the history of Oscars or even films in general, there’s often a premium put on “timelessness”.  The dullness you speak of IS Lester’s life.  That’s the point.

The problem is really one of asymmetric information. All “love yourself” has to do with is not hating yourself for things that are not changeable.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven’t seen that one so I’ll check it out. The setup is definitely by definition Isekai.
