I have bipolar disorder, and one of the only good things about it was that it gave me a shit ton of energy. Problem is, I didn’t make good decisions with that energy. So now I’m on Lamictal and Wellbutrin, which I’ve been on for years - the reason they put me on the Wellbutrin, in fact, was to up my energy level.

For the last few months, I’ve been suffering with horrible exhaustion. Seemingly out of nowhere, I’ve just lost all my energy. I sleep eight to ten hours a night but then need a nap at 2 in the afternoon. I’ve had sleep studies, there are no abnormalities there. None of my medications have changed. Nothing shows up in

Most of the time, yes. But certainly not always. That’s how many of them are able to hide. Let’s expand to non-serial killers. Scott Peterson. Dylan Klebold.

He’s essentially the best man I’ve ever met outside of my dad. I got really lucky with this one.

Source?

Correct re spree/serial. I was more thinking about the idea of “people from normal families never do evil things” rather than focusing on the type of killer.

When you are in mourning, you do not know when you have overstepped some invisible boundary set by someone to say your sadness is Too Much, that you are just looking for sympathy, that you are asking for attention, that perhaps, you have not lost as much as another person whose loss is much more tragic and you do not

He apparently tried to say something to them in a South African language he picked up when he was teaching soccer there. Because all black and brown people speak the same language.

The thing is, he didn’t die doing what he thought was right for these people. Missionaries try to convert people to win points to get into Heaven. He was selfish - he whined about them not accepting him and said he wanted to “live among them.” This was pride and self-righteousness.

I pointed that out within my original post. He wasn’t doing anything in god’s name. He was being a selfish asshole.

Except this law was created by India to protect this tribe from extinction. Not for the purpose of keeping outsiders from immigrating based on some silly notion that they’re all rapists.

Michael Lee Lockhart, for one. Scott Peterson, though not a serial killer. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold has totally normal childhoods.

Thing is, they’ve already been exposed just by him being there.  Sending MORE people to go get him will bring a bigger chance of the tribe being exposed.

Believe me, I’m not saying I think we should be making extraordinary efforts to retrieve his body just to soothe his family’s grief.  What I’m saying is that I blame this kid for his own choices, and I feel sympathy for the loss of a child the way I’d feel sympathy for the mother of a death row inmate.  Regardless of

Well, that’s just stupid.  But again, kid made his own choices.  I can’t blame his family for his choices any more than I blame my ex’s family for his being abusive.  Maybe they contributed, but he ultimately made his own decisions.

I’m not even necessarily speaking just about his parents. His other family - nieces, nephews, aunts, etc. - they’ve lost someone too.  I guess I have a hard time blaming the family for something that this kid CHOSE to do.  Free will, isn’t that something Christians believe in?

People lose their relatives all the time and don’t get to bury a body, when their relatives died doing absolutely nothing wrong. THAT is awful. THAT is unjust. Leaving this dude where the Sentinelese put him? Well, I guess he’ll get his wish to “live among them,” as he told his adviser for this whole thing.

I should add, I don’t think anyone should be trying to retrieve his body.  His family needs to live with the fact that their son died being incredibly stupid, and that putting others in danger (including the very residents of the island) to retrieve the body is selfish.

Without evidence to that effect, I can’t blame them. Plenty of serial killers have come from perfectly healthy, lovely families. People have free will. He chose to do this. I feel bad for his friends and family the same way I’d feel bad for any family whose child is killed. That said, I again think his family needs to

Apparently he missed “pride” as one of the seven deadly sins.
