We are splitting hairs - we basically agree. Most muscle cars were running 14s stock. But switching to modern tires will take a second off those times. You seem to acknowledge advancement in car technology - but refuse to believe traction has improved or that muscle cars were traction limited..

The sad thing is you think you are correct.

Now playing

. Here is a nearly stock 71 vs. a new Hellcat. As you can see the nearly stock Challenger ran a 13.67. Granted that guy can drive better then your C&D guys.. But a good representative real world time for a 71 is around 13.2..

1. Displacement is stupid metric - the pushrod engines are more space efficient.

Hurt? Its a pretty quick car for the era - 14 second quarter mile and 5.8 0-60. The stopping distance sucked but anyone with the car now would put on new brakes and new tires..

I can't say I get this posting.. Lindy seems excited about this for some reason.

Bad drivers vary by area. You can't tell it from car type alone. In NYC for example - there are a lot of bad BMW drivers. My guess it was arrogant Europeans - yeah - racist I guess but if you live in NYC you will find this is an actual group over there.

Yeah.. I think a lot of people who drop 80k on a Corvette are okay with taking their car to the drag strip and/or race track. You don't really buy a Corvette to look good for the ladies. Its the guys that buy the Lambos that you want to pick on.

We don't need automated cars to prevent people who are unsafe from driving. Poor drivers should not be allowed to drive. Automated cars don't solve the problem of poor drivers (at this time) because those bad drivers can still 'take over' at any time. We don't need to conflate our problems here.

Super fast family cars are awesome for skiing. You often have to drive long distances on the highway in pretty good conditions - and yet need something that could potentially handle snow if you got stuck in a storm. Granted you could use an Audi or Subaru for this purpose too..but the Macan is basically a wagon..when

Accord is only fun to drive if its a 3 pedal car. Since the vast majority are autos - I think most of them get stolen because they are so popular and useful for chop shops..

I don't agree with the tone of this article. The writer seems to feel that Google is being screwed over by the regulators who are being 'unreasonable.' I don't see that at all.

Does this car make for an easy engine swap with an LS engine? Then it would be a cool car. I think diesel is a lot less Jalop then people imagine. Go out and give 30 Jalops a car with a small old NA diesel engine and a manual transmission and tell me how much they still like diesel.. Diesel redefines the phrase

Preaching to the choir won't accomplish anything... Dealers aren't going to change. Consumers - just need to do their homework. if you prepare it doesn't really matter who the sales guy is..IMHO.

Changing the stuff you eat is the key to losing weight - neither the gym or diet pills are going to have any long term effect. Exercise is not even correlated with weight loss. The problem is (and major studies have proven this) without regulating your diet you simply eat more if you exercise more. In fact, unchecked

Why? I am amazed at how people can hate some pretty decent people. I don't even hate Ralph Nader.

The Panera guy didn't handle this well - but they are pretty limited in what they can do. It would be nice if they tackled the dude - and called the cops while having him pinned down but likely they don't want to get in the legal trouble that this would entail.

Great post. Unfortunately if you are fan of Japanese cars I don't really see this problem going away in the short term. Sure you can point to them hiring NYC guys who don't really care about cars as part of the issue. But the reason they do this is because nowadays Japan mirrors the NYC environment. They are in sync

Both sides should be nervous. With a turbo engine you can always crank up the boost..Nissan could be running a 1000HP - or more. Dodge could probably add more power too by manipulating the supercharger pulley system..

They should do it. After 10 years they need to update their engine badly.. Sure they are still #1 - but if they spend the money they can stay ahead for a very long time.
