Gizmodo's gotta make that paper.

Er, why? There is literally 0 need for interplanetary missiles right now.

Yeah, because that wouldn't disturb the delicate ecosystem they're hoping to discover.

Get back to me next year when you're an atheist.

The curse is having to see The Mummy.

I think the fear is that "they" will just imprison you without trial. Not that anyone, even the NSA, gives a shit what's on 99% of iPhones.

When did I call people conspiracy theorist nutcases? I'm simply stating that even a ubiquitous surveillance system is not necessarily a tool of oppression. It CAN be, and it's possible that it will be. I'm just tired of immediately calling foul without anything approaching knowledge of the whole picture.

I am aware of the US history of abusing these kinds of systems, but the fact is that once the technology becomes available, it WILL be used, regardless of public outcry. Instead of knee-jerking and screaming oppression, opponents would be better served by pushing for reform and transparency rather than the elimination

This is what I'm talking about. Every time this argument comes up, people start shouting SURVEILLANCE = OPPRESSION as it's some kind of self-evident axiom. It is not. There's a big difference between being watched in a public space vs. some nebulous idea of being oppressed by a "police state."

Am I the only one who is tired of people conflating surveillance with oppression?

Wait are you talking about the frontend-loader full of weed or the video?

I had a Tandy 2000 until moisture killed it one summer :(

Also this was on an iPhone 4 vs. a New iPad, so that could have something to do with it.

Not sure—I think it expects the speakers and microphones to be totally separate. I.e. the headphones isolate all the output sound so there's no need for feedback handling. If you open the app up (at least last time I used it) the first time, by default it's already set to on, and if you don't have your headphones in,

Be careful: Awareness could blow out your iPad speaker from feedback. Learned that the hard way. It's definitely an iPhone ONLY app.

Proofreading: we don't do that here.

Good, now unfuck the Hulu app on 360.

This seems like something PETA would have a big problem with.

I like how all those nerd guns I've grown up with in video games are actually available for purchase.

Except I work in the professional realm where you're generally hired based on merit without drug testing.
