I was hoping for the exact same things, so that's very disappointing to hear. Thanks pal, you just saved me ten bucks.

I know! :(

Over two centuries in my neck of the woods. Guess getting steamrolled by Napoleon was good for at least something.

Oh? I was planning on seeing that this weekend, trailer was pleasantly bonkers. Care to elaborate why it was terrible/disappointing?

And what a wonderful new era we are entering when the military disregarding the orders of elected leaders actually starts to sound appealing…*shudders*

Don't kid yourself: in the eyes of many, nothing will make him look more presidential than a bonafide military crisis. That's the scary part - for a ratings, image-obsessed guy like Trump, the opportunity to distract from troubles at home by saber-rattling abroad will seem irresistible after a while.

Yeah, that combination of Leonard Cohen's gravelly voice and stripped-down, dark-as-fuck beat always made me squee with glee.

"a cross between Debbie Harry and a Nagel print"
"a British spy sent to West Berlin in 1989"
"neon décors that are like something out of a Nicolas Winding Refn movie"
"a British agent being offed by a KGB goon to New Order’s “Blue Monday,”"
"out-of-context arthouse shout-outs"
"a statuesque Barbie-blond who fucks beautiful

Beg to differ. Vince Vaughn was great as Frank, and he sold the hell out of lines like "Never do anything out of hunger, not even eating." True Detective season 2 is seriously underrated.

Meh. Might as well do a Toyo Harada solo movie then…

Eclectic Method's Dark Side mix is much more fun to listen to.

As a bonafide Marvel Zombie, I actively avoided all the Arrowverse shows for years. Then, I binge-watched every season of Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow over the past 2 weeks (I was in the mood for something superheroic). I have to say: those CW shows are much, much better than I expected, especially if you're

Historically, all the best Flash comics have starred Wally, so there's certainly precedent for it.

Arrow S5 (which I just finished watching yesterday) was *so* good, after the long, dar(h)k slog of season 3-4. I've seen some people bitch about all the new characters, but Rick Gonzalez is so awesome as Wild Dog, exactly what the show needed.

It was hard getting Valiant comics here in Amsterdam back in the 90s, so I actually only read all the classic Valiant books in the late 00s. I thought quite a few of them were really good reads (Magnus, Solar, early Harbinger, BWS-written A&A, some of the other odds and ends)…much better than, say, the Ultraverse

Sad upvote. I liked his heel-face turn (he was totally adorable at the Christmas party), but after that he just became the guy who really! wants! to! cure! Caitlin!
…as if Cisco isn't already there to fulfill that role.

That's Quantum & Woody! Also good (both old and new Valiant), but different guys. Archer and Armstrong are a super-earnest Christian fundamentalist ninja kid and an immortal, immoral hedonist teaming-up to take down an evil global conspiracy. Tons of fun, that book.

Personally, I dig both X-O Manowar and Harbinger quite a bit, as well as Archer & Armstrong. Haven't read anything from them in the past year, so I might be a little behind on their current slate of books. What kind of comics do you like? I might be able to recommend something based on your preferences.

Oh yeah, absolutely: those Barry Windsor Smith issues are insanely awesome. Unfortunately, Solar's rights (like Turok and Magnus, Robot Fighter) have reverted back to Gold Key (or whomever) and they're not part of the rebooted Valiant universe (which, on the whole, has been very good, so it's a shame they can't use

The Valiant universe actually has quite a few cool concepts, interesting characters and epic storylines to mine for movies (and series - Harbinger would be a great TV show).
