The best part of these books is that they all have stories of their own. There’s more freshness in this first crop than in the tie-in titles accompanying DC’s rival Convergence event, which have hit the same beats way too often for readers to care.

I too am in this boat, though I’m a bit younger, I’m more or less at this stage already and it feels like I’ll never *get in* and once I’m qualified enough, theres so many factors that’ll keep me out. It’s a bit depressing, but I guess I’ll just have to find a way.
Yes, and more or less the same goes for *every* superhero post-cross over event. Remember when spider-man was really doc ock controlling spider-mans body? Before that he was ‘soft -rebooted’ to no longer be married and have some of his supporting cast back. Before that his identity was outed and he had a iron-man made…
And the majority of this done with almost NO references to Angela, thor’s new shoe-horned sister. so thats a win for everybody.
A Hulk vs ALL the Avengers would probably be a great moment, but one we will probably never get now, because we’ve burned Hulk vs Hordes of minions (two-three-four-ish times) and Hulk vs Hulkbuster Armor. Hulk vs the Avengers would just seem like a retread of the mind control schtick.
But as for Hulk having more…
Because sometimes you feel you just HAVE to tell someone when you find something cool!
I think the key difference is, they are split from the get-go and have no cooldowns or timers attached. As opposed to leveling up, waiting to get the ult, and then having a time limit.
I’m probably the first reader, I don’t mind the re-interpretations and whatnot. Honestly I just treat these the same way I treat(ed) the Ultimate Universe of Marvel. Its just another world, with its own twists on the formula, but not too much. I’ve really enjoyed Superman Earth 1 (vol 1 and 2, I didn’t realize the 3rd…
Considering thats one of Superman’s core elements, its not too far fetched to have them constantly start at that point. For me, it makes it tragic, but not in a ‘oh this could happen to me’, but in a ‘oh geebus, even god-likes have their off days.’
But I get the sense that it’d be problematic if DC editorial undermined the Finchs’ creative choices and pissed off a superstar artist in the process. And it’d be even more awkward to have Geoff Johns—the Justice League writer who’s also one of the company’s big bosses—re-jigger his storyline to accommodate the new…
UGH Just the thought of having Hulkbuster Iron Man fight Darth Vader is just...like a joygasm.
There’s a 40-minute critique of that last stupid Superman movie in here.
Behold! The Harley Quinn cosplay con goers everywhere will see everywhere next year!
*potential spoilers*
By gratuitous I mean, “Did we really need an extra 20 shots totaling something like 5 minutes, of people boarding Shield Lifeboats?” Probably not, by the author’s admission and something I concur with, we probably could’ve used a little less Iron Man saving random people in a Bathtub, and more…
The gratuitous saving people was certainly a ‘f you’ to DC. Which is weird because there are plenty of moments in DC movies where the heroes save people. For me man, I appreciated it, but at some point it just added to the run time for me, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
Yes Marvel, you are doing the thing…
I always aliken Marvel’s reboots to ‘soft’ reboots, meaning that the characters don’t necessarily have some giant cataclysm that warps time and space that they are effectively different characters, but more that they suddenly will have a new character arc/storyline the MOMENT the latest crossover happens. Narrative,…
Honestly yea, Infinite Crisis was probably the best one, for as much as it changed, much didn’t actually change much, and we got some FANTASTIC stories out of it.
This sounds like its going to be the deal after this next DC Reboot. Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen.
This is like an anathema to most ‘Big Two’ Comics fans. They demand it, and separating too much can make the comic feel less ‘important’ for lack of a better term.
To put it another way, its the same way every Marvel fan gasps and giggles whenever a name gets dropped or easter egg’d into a Marvel Movie. It makes it…
