Usually because they didn't know it was in there— apparently it's a pretty common thing that ladies, say, forget that they haven't taken out the previous tampon, and go ahead and put in another one. And then when that one comes out, they go on their merry way, never realizing they were double-plugging it the whole

The worst part was I was supposed to work a double-shift that day, but had to call out for the morning and then I came in for the night (it was actually a little more complicated than that, but that's the easiest explanation). And they were not pleased. So when I came into work after dealing with that, I had to

Ughhh. I have a pretty healthy sense of "fuck it, it's a vagina. It's not terribly pretty and it sometimes smells weird" but I still would've been embarrassed.

I have one that I should've put in the original post!

I had a chin-bob which I've been growing out for a year.... and I'm just now starting to be OK with it. Ugh. I guess it's easier when you can pay for fancy extentions?

My only thought is that while it looks great now, it's going to be a bitch to grow out.

I'm not describing it as a slam-dunk— I'm saying that I like it and find it valuable, and this is why. You're welcome to your opinion on this piece, but if you think that arguing about and discussing the point of art is irrelevant, then I have to say that you really don't understand art as a whole. It's all about

I was just curious why you responded with a single sentence which you had previously stated and with which I agreed— generally speaking when a philosophical conversation is continued it's with some new argument/rephrased sentiment. (I realize this comes off as aggressive but it's not meant to be).

I don't know if I agree. For one thing, Anne Frank's story is a more passive one (by necessity, of course). The others have more "active" sounding titles— but the ones that would spring to mind for her are either too positive ("Hope") or totally overlook the reality of her story ("Writer" or "Hiding")— "Defiant" might

Is that your only counterargument? Because while you're of course totally welcome to your opinion, I'm not sure why you responded if you have no intent of continuing the conversation.

I think it's supposed to be fucked-up and jarring. I actually respect the artist more for not bowdlerizing the reality of Anne Frank's story with a vague title. "Princess of Hope" is a little too close to what Disney would probably actually call her.

With satire, you have to go hard or go home (because otherwise half your audience just won't get it, and even then really*). So, I'd like to agree with you, but I see why the artist included her. No one could possibly think the princessification of her story was in any way sincere or OK.

Ugh, thank you, it was driving me nuts that I couldn't remember where this was from.

I disagree. The princessification of these women is super-offensive— and that's the point. Why is it so offensive? Because these particular women are known for being smart, opinionated, world-shakers with something to say, and the glitterification demeans them. So why are we okay with *anyone* being princessified? Are

For heaven's sake, stand up straight in your beautiful dresses! You look gorgeous, so work it!

I'm thinking of Menelaeus, but I think it might be played out.

Yeah, there's a lot of conflicting stuff that pops up for me about it— my relationships with my whole family is sort of messed up, each person for a different reason, and the issues with my father are all tied up in that. Suffice it to say that while out of everyone his issues might be the most awful abstractly, he's

If you were a real hipster, you'd go with Odysseus.

You're awesome.
