You must be short - at 5' 11" I did not fit. Maybe with a thick mattress and the passenger seat down? But where do you put your stuff overnight then? I'm assuming two sleeping in the back.
But not everyone rock crawls, or even off-roads on more than a two track that a family sedan would have trouble on.
I believe it’s heavily influenced by cosmetics - stainless doesn’t rust, and motorcycle and bicycle rotors are both exposed to the weather and easily visible.
Actually, not a terrible terrible idea when paired with the right pad material. Almost every street and race bike (and bicycle for that matter) uses stainless steel for its rotors’ friction surface.

I too was thinking the safety slings aren’t going to be anywhere near as effective as a three point seat belt and seat.
