Here in Michigan the worst offenders are old (20+ years) medium and heavy trucks - like concrete mixer trucks, dump trucks, etc. Brodozers can be a problem too, but not as often or as bad.

I’m the engineering manager for a large portable water pump manufacturer and contractor - we make diesel and electric pumps from 4 inch to 24 inch suction size, and we and our customers frequently take on open pit mine dewatering jobs that are probably broadly similar to this.
