The danger caused by cellphones has nothing to do with GPS. The concern is ultra-sensitive ILS equipment, which operates in the VHF range, just above FM radio. And yes, cellphone transmissions can affect ILS readings. It's not a very common occurrence, but ask any pilot with a lot of hours who flies with his phone…

In most run-of-the-mill passenger vehicles, top speed is not in overdrive (D6 on the Sorento), but in the next gear down. Most of the time, a car is rev-limited in D5, but drag limits it to a lower speed in overdrive. I wouldn't recommend your suggestion unless you are in an overpowered car.
