Edit: Oops, I read as pre-purchase inspection, but oh well.
Well, more about what happened after the inspection, but I had a new-to-me Land Rover LR4 inspected at a reputable LR specialty shop. This is what followed:

I was trying to think of why this sounded familiar - sounds like Mazda needs to pay attention to their dev work!
Regarding the acceleration after space opening with adaptive cruise, I just discovered that my VW has a pretty nifty solution. Deep in the car menu, it allows you to select between “Aggressive”, “Normal”, and “Eco” in return-to-speed settings.
We were wondering why it always wanted to slingshot us after the car ahead…
The shiftable automatic is an odd one - I use mine nearly every weekend when in the mountains. Holding gears down a grade, regardless of if you are towing, seems like a benefit?
I’m from the US, but I distinctly remember my mother renting her first automatic car in Las Vegas and being scared as a child that she would kill the car in some way.
Logical to her, she thought “2" was for highway driving and “1" was for city driving. She also did not understand that you could not just put it into…
Yikes, at that speed the Genesis seemed to handle it fairly well - he was fortunate
I really dig this thing - It’s the perfect amount of retro. Hoping it drives as good as it looks.
Ah - thank you. For some reason I had in my mind this was Ssangyong, but you’re correct. For some reason I cannot edit or delete.
Thanks for the correction
Ah yes, Ssangyong. Who can forget the iconic “CEO” model. Not derivative at all!
NP. I know they’re unreliable, etc - but I’ve never loved a vehicle more than my Disco. 77k on mine and running like a champ.
Exactly my thoughts, I have an 02 Disco 2 as well, and it’s not a great on road handler. I can’t imagine how an SUV with an independent front suspension can be so much worse.
Agreed - these were some dark days for GM. The handling on these beasts was atrocious. From a car and driver comparison with 8 other SUVs including a Land Rover Discovery, they had this to say:
I actually owned one! A “platinum edition” v6, no less. I was sick of my unreliable BMW and wanted something I didn’t have to worry about. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have sold out but it was the frustration at the time.
I clearly remember the first time my Mom drove an automatic.
You’re right on the money, Bumbles. Paid $4500 2 months ago for a fairly clean example with 66k miles on it. Did a ton of work to it and it seems to have no fatal issues (yet). I do envy Toyota’s and their dependability, though.
So true. All she has to do is outlive her counterparts
Really hoping unreliable dual-solid-axle vehicles will become a massive hit one day!
Reasonable cop is a good dude. But I have a feeling that kid may have a run in with Darwin sooner or later.
Lucky, enjoy. What Gen do you have? I love seeing LCs on the trail.
Agreed with all of this - multitool is absolutely the most used.
