The car was 9 years old at the time with 125k miles. I worked almost full time at my local Subway during high school to pay for my sub 10k dream car. My parents were big on understanding the value of money.
16 year old me decided it was a good idea to take my E39 (530i) out in the snow. It wore snow tires, so not too crazy of an idea. Having a great time, went into a country club parking lot and decided to make some sweet donuts.
Eh, I don’t follow.
Yes, there are many other factors here. I agree with you. But it could go the other way - buying a new car @0% may make more sense than buying used in some cases (Toyota comes to mind).
Good point! That absolutely needs to be part of the equation. It’s rarely as cut and dry as my example.
While I agree with your sentiment, why wouldn’t you take 0% for 72? That’s far better financially than paying in cash. In buying a new car, if I have an option for 0% or to pay in cash, it’s 0 every time.
This deserves all the stars
My father’s Jeep does the auto-reverse brake shenanigans and it drives me insane.
As a weekend hauler, it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. Fits skis, camping gear, everything I need when I head up to the mountains of CO and cruises at speed incredibly well. It is okay on semi-offroad trails (certainly can’t get into the tough stuff)- I’ve had it with two wheels in the air a few times and it managed…
This is very true, I did not mean to imply otherwise in the OP. Soccer moms can be awesome.
My current daily driver is a 2013 Cayenne. My girlfriend says all she can think of when she sees the car is “soccer mom”
Yep, that would be a different kind of car/target performance output, keep it FWD
I agree! No need to qualify it as you said
Not sure if this is a popular opinion - but I like it quite a bit.
This is pretty much unbelievable. 3 Reasons:
Unfortunately, I know the cycle you are referring to very well, as I’m guilty of being part of the petrochemical industry myself.
You’ve definitely got a point there - it’s possible. There are a lot of levers to pull when you have someone in power trying to hold on to his base. Especially when this particular base chants “drill baby drill”
Not seeing the rationalization behind this change besides “Green is bad, Oil is good”
