The ES is not the same chassis as the GS. 

I’ve spent more time looking up 1st gen GSes on used car sites than I’m willing to admit. I’ve spent nearly as much time looking for 2JZ-GTE Aristos as well.

The GS is the closest thing we got to the Toyota Crown in the US (same platform).

I still defend the GS as the second best sedan Lexus ever made.
