Fremont already did this.

I agree. Hell... if they got 20 Long Range Model Y vehicles, it shouldn’t cost more than 1.4 million even when financing directly through Tesla over 48 months (which I just checked). And I don’t believe that upfitting 20 Teslas should cost anywhere near $600,000.

“ The city has entered into a lease agreement with Enterprise to lease 20 Teslas for the next five years”
“Gen Z — 18- 19-year-olds — is our next market.”
I don’t own a model 3, but based on them leasing 20 of them for $100k each (for admin and outreach duty, so they won’t be upfitted with cages and all that patrol stuff), and then returned after 5 years, I will figure out a way to get as many as they need.
I’ve always been fond of the C30. If this ends up being the current day equivalent of the C30, I’m in. Even if it is more CUV than hatchback. Though I’ll be even happier if the call it a CUV whereas it’s actually just a slightly taller hatch (kinda like the Bolt EUV).
Koenigsegg try to revive it , but alas it t’was not to be. Still a bunch of SAAB lifers over here in Sweden, big props to them.
I’d love to hear the reasoning behind leasing a $40k car for a total cost of $102k, that seems fiscally questionable. Unless there’s some fringe in there like a fleet of rapid chargers to go with them.
“The 20 Teslas — split between 10 Model Ys and 10 Model 3s — will be paid for by $2 million that was allocated for the leases; another $50,000 is coming from a local group that wants to help improve air quality in the region.”
Who is responsible for estimating lifetime savings of an EV over an ICE cop car? $300k? I’d like to see the calculations. My guess is that there’s a gross overestimation in the savings. Also, and shame on me for not caring to read all of this post and the underlying source info, but are Tesla’s up to cop car use and…
In the very near future, a Police Charger will mean something different than today.
Still miss seeing new Saabs on the road.
RIP Saab.
Why wouldn’t it be a hatch similar to the now-discontinued C30?
So basically a Chevy Bolt with Chinese motor and battery pack for $35k.
Who owns Volvo again? Ohhhhh...
I don’t need to drive all that much anymore, my main concern is convenience. I don’t have a charger in my complex, there’s only 2 chargers near my job and they’re both slow, and are in use alot of the time. I would have to go completely out of my way if I want to charge and find...something to do while I wait 30…
My goal number is 240 miles. However, I also want to be able to charge at least 100 kW.
Please just don’t give it a range under 150 miles. I’m mildly considering electric when I replace my current car, but all the small options are either being discontinued or have short range.
