any time that I’ve been in traffic court, there are no cops present.  The clerk just dismisses the charges and hands you a bill for the pleasure of waiting in line all goddamn day.

The Dubai landing was done with a (fairly) steady headwind as well, but that’s part and parcel of STOL. The planes are built to take advantage of any breeze they can get, and boy do they.

I pulled right out of a convivence store on a double lane road, that was about 80 yards from the cross street I needed to turn left on. Flash my left blinker, moved to inside lane, flashed again to move into the dedicated left turn lane and waited…

Gee, 10 whole mph? I was once pulled over on Long Island NY for 85 in a 55. (Yes, all of LI is still 55 mph, except for the parts that are in NYC, where it’s 50 FFS.) He told me flat out that they generally don’t ticket for under 80; since then I’ve kept it under 80 and no tickets.

True for the rest of Virginia. However, they seem to be more chill on the Capitol Beltway. Guess they don’t want to deal with diplomats or elected officials.

yea fuck maryland cops. i used to go there to do audits of a client. one year when i was there, a cop gave me a bullshit speeding ticket. i might have been going like 5 mph over the speed limit but along with other traffic, but he wrote me up for like 15 over because he “matched my speed” when he was using the mph…

That’s seems the exact opposite of what I have experienced/observed over a few decades and at least 20 NY-FL runs in cars that scream “ticket me” even when standing still. Virginia highway cops are well know for writing tickets when you are , literally, one MPH over the limit. It may be a different story off the…

Did he pick a day with a good headwind? There are a number of videos showing light planes in headwinds almost stationary because wind speed and airspeed matched at a point above stall speed  

I might have you beat....

I have seen an STOL airplane land flying *backwards* relative to the ground at an airshow. Steady 35mph wind, <35mph stall speed...They really look like a ton of fun, and of course if you are going to crash, the slower the better.
