Definitely great as an NYC movie. And fun in how it plays with the geography too - I saw them shoot a couple scenes near downtown that ended up actually serving as spots uptown in the film. There's also the moment where Willis and Jackson run from the West Village to Central Park in about 2 minutes. Knowing the city

Agreed on this. But the second one has some great set pieces, including snowmobile chasing which is the kind of thing that should be in more action movies.

(rolls eyes)

My personal favorite is Paul Gleason, who I already loved from Breakfast Club. His work as Dwayne T. Robinson is the perfection of the bureaucratic, arrogant blowhard.

I like the third film quite a bit, but this is like hearing someone has only ever had Chips Ahoy and not a homemade chocolate chip cookie.

Good call on Fonda, so wonderfully playing against type.

It's both the best action movie AND the best Christmas movie. That's quite the accomplishment.

Seeing this in the theater at the age of 12 was one of those life changing movie experiences for me. As others have already said, it's pretty much perfect on every level of filmmaking - and as much as I loved Predator and other great actions movies of that period, it was clear to me even then that this was a cut above.

He might just be the best movie villain ever. If not, he's top 5 for sure.

I know you said no questions, but I'm gonna need you to address why the gorilla punched the crooks in the balls.

Never realized that!

Yes, and the shots of the eyes are so quick. He shows just enough to satisfy and allow the audience room to imagine the rest.

I can't get through the trailers without laughing at Garfield's podunk accent.

Dowd's note here about how well Nichols sets a scene is spot-on - all the spaces in his movies feel very lived-in. That quality really helped Midnight Special work for me.

Here's hoping he shows up to make copies!

I like that Franco's reason for doing this is that…he has no reason at all for doing this.

All Lohan jokes aside, who is the girl in the video with the cute silver haircut and how can I meet her?

Not sure but I dug it too.

This sounds like something I'd enjoy. I loved the trailer, which is pretty much just the farmer yelling about his farming.

It is impossible for Tilda Swinton to be the poorest casting choice for any role you could possibly think of.
