The sequence using Late for the Sky in Taxi Driver has my favorite shot in all of Scorsese's work: the zoom into the TV that continues zooming and tracking within the TV, settling on the single pair of empty shoes on the dance floor. Blew my mind first time I saw the film as a teenager. And the song is perfect for it.

Caught them live a couple weeks ago and appreciated these songs a bit more in that context. Wasser was very charming too

Yep

It's not my mother's fault that I insisted on seeing literal garbage cinema as a kid.

I think comedy people know that Hahn is a treasure, which is why she's been popping up all over the place the last few years.

Same here, this sounds amazing. I made some experimental shorts a few years back that focused on some abandoned spaces and I'm still really drawn to that idea. Ignaity's line about how movies are uniquely suited to capturing stillness is something I wish more filmmakers would embrace.

Well of course the new Bourne movie sucks because this is 2016 and the whole world is going to shit.
