Has there ever been a horror film where the heroes are resourceful elderly people?
Great, you slammed the door so hard that the lights have gone out on my whole block.
Yeah, if anything it should be the other way around. Linney is great and I'm pretty sure even Helen Hunt doesn't like Helen Hunt.
I wish the Joe Swanburg series was called Fumblecore, as one cannot imagine a better description of that guy's work.
I have bad luck with concert tickets in general - I almost always miss the show for some reason or another. It's even worse in situations like the one you describe, when you realize you may not get a chance to see the artist again.
Just once, I'd like something to ruin my adulthood.
"Ms. DiPesto!"
Is the good way with biscuits and gravy?
That last shot is a doozy though, and a perfectly spot-on joke about Los Angeles.
It's fantastic but so low key that lots of people already seem to have forgotten about it. I love all three of Joachim Trier's features.
Ugh, and here I was trying to finish it.
I liked his earlier stuff but High Rise is probably the worst film I've seen this year. Nicely photographed but otherwise ill-conceived on every level.
The Knick is phenomenal and it's sad that no one ever talks about it.
Zoo? The horse-fucking movie from a few years back?
Stuff I've seen so far this year that I rated higher than 4 stars on Letterboxed:
Yes, I was just going to say the same thing. There are lots of good films this year if you are willing to hunt them down, as the list above attests.
There's some decent TV on Netflix, but even to me, the shows feel a little insubstantial. I know everyone here is wild about it but Stranger Things, while well made and very well-acted, gives me that empty re-packaged nostalgia vibe I get from J.J. Abrams' stuff. In two years no one will remember that show.
Hahahahahaha.
When this place is long gone, I will reflect fondly on it, and on your unwavering commitment to various bits over the years.
