No, it is still ridiculous. They are children who were fully clothed, also the father who was let on was not meeting the dress code either.
Why, though? Literally the only people who would know that they have any sort of connection to United are other United employees. The argument that they’re acting as representatives of the company by traveling on an employee discount is absurd.
My elementary school-aged daughter has decided that all traditional pants are “terrible” and “make my belly hurt” and will only wear elastic-waisted leggings/stretch pants/knits. She wants comfort as she tree-climbs, karate-kicks, and army-crawls her way through 1st Grade and I cannot blame her.
It has been reported that the passenger was flying on a pass, and was therefore required to adhere to a more formal dress code.
Well, they let the family of their employees fly for free. That sounds pretty friendly to me.
Also, as a person that flies really frequently, there is a dearth between the people that always fly, and people who don’t. Especially those that don’t and also fly for free.
They’re not “dressy,” but the dress code for UA pass travelers isn’t dressy either. You aren’t required to wear business-casual anymore. And you can wear leggings with a tunic or blouse and it’s considered perfectly put-together by today’s standards.
I’m really not sure how this became such an object of rage, other than the ham-handed social media specialist who did a poor job of replying to the initial dust-up on Twitter. As explained, if they were flying on their own dime, they could wear whatever they want to wear. If the airline is supplying them with free…
C’mon. There’s no universe in which leggings, for anybody, are dressy. The over-the-top protestations aside, most dress codes aren’t particularly onerous. There are a lot of ways for women and girls to be comfortable and still meet guidelines.
I a am a United Pass Traveller. When you are signed onto the employees benefits, you are made well-aware of the requirements when accepting this pretty sweet deal. This is a non-story.
As a child (many years ago) I often had to wear nylons, heels, and a little girl navy suit when traveling non revenue, space available.
I’ve been a pass traveler, too, but I’ve seen this policy enacted in wildly different ways from site to site (and from agent to agent). If you’re going to have a policy, it shouldn’t be selectively applied, and a company should always be very careful not to criticize the apparel of younger children.
Yeah, so employees and their families should dress as befits the standards of the company for whom they are employed, which is also paying for them to fly? QUEL SUPRISE!!!!
Hopefully Mr Alefontis will do unto Alex Jones what Peter Thiel did unto Gawker.
It’s because the FBI is currently investigating right-wing news sources for their role in disseminating fake news. And he’s willing to roll over and apologize because his schtick is 100% an act to exploit mentally ill people.
Well, he completely side stepped acknowledging the Hillary Clinton part.
“To my knowledge” implies I have no proof but they probably still did it.
That jiggling psycho is only apologizing because now infowars is being investigated in the russia thing. He’s not genuinely sorry. Btw Alex, when are you gonna get around to apologizing for making sandy hook survivors and family members lives a living hell?
I would gladly contribute to Alefantis’ legal fund (though where are the left’s billionaire sugar daddies?) if he can take down Alex Jones as Peter Thiel did Gawker. Both sides can play at that game.
