I don’t like wine talk, either, tbh.

I’ve seen some women go on these shows in casual attire. Yeah the standards are ridiculous for us, so this may seem like we’re getting our comeuppance now that a dude is being ridiculed. But I’d rather no one be insulted for their looks 2 seconds into an interview and then be lambasted for not responding in the most…
A female guest would be ridiculed if she came on a show dressed that way, so the comparison is moot.
Right?? What kind of piece of shit bows up to Stephen Colbert? It sounds like the kind of story that would eventually get told at an AA meeting.
I seriously don't get it. He's from Massachusetts, everyone is a sarcastic asshole here. How does he not have any sort of sense of humor?
I love how impish Stephen is though. Like, he KNEW Casey was being ridiculously testy and could have stopped that line of jokes to save the interview. But instead, he clearly wanted to push the limit of how ridiculously testy he could get this guy to be on television, probably partially out of principle and partially…
Sure, and I’m not attacking the women. As this thread has made painfully clear, the presence of a tableside chef makes servers invisible to the vast majority of diners — they undoubtedly thought they were punishing the chef.
I think not tipping was the least of what I would have done. I would have gotten up and explained to the manager why my wife and I were leaving. I would have agreed to pay for drinks if necessary, but there is no way I would tolerate my wife and I being subjected to that kind of behavior, and I certainly wouldn’t sit…
I guarantee that if this moron said this shit to customers her has already said worse to his coworkers. Dickbags like this aren't just dropping one offs.
The chefs at hibachi restaurants get the lions share of the tips. In addition, having one of the public faces of a business (note this is not a chef that is in the kitchen but one that interacts with their customers) suggest that the thing a couple needs is him in their bed is definitely worth savaging a business for.
I used to work at a similar place. Servers had to split tips 50-50 with the chefs, who also made a good salary. They did likely screw their waiter/waitress with this tactic.
I have, as a matter of fact! I just seem to be one of the few people on Jezebel who actually noticed the person who took my order, brought my drinks, sides and dessert, cleared away plates as they were finished, dealt with any requests, and generally, you know, served me. And who realizes that unlike the chef, that…
If it is anything like the hibachi place my cousin used to work at, yes there are servers and they share tips with the chefs. So these women unfortunately likely punished an innocent party.
I would've walked out without paying a dime. But that's me.
That is a great point. Depending where you live, you might not have much of a choice. Which is even worse. Where I live, I don’t think anyone would be stupid enough to say anything but if they were there are still other places to go. In the middle of the Bible Belt, you are just dodging one insult to run into another.…
Actually, I was thinking that maybe the chef assumed they were two straight women who couldn’t find dates so they went on a date together as friends, and then the joke in the context of a zany hibachi chef would have been meant as “teehee ribaldry” instead of... you know... deeply offensive.
Yeah, I agree. Thanks. And I’d like to take this opportunity to say to all the people commenting “They got insulted and still stayed??” that there are lots of places in America where this is the norm. And if you don’t fake smile and stay, then you end up at home with Top Ramen.
😟😡😡😡
My sister, her partner, and I went out for Margarita Monday a while back. This sort of thing happened, and I was like ughhhhhh. They were both laughing like no big deal, we get this all the time. I wanted to cut people’s throats and they were dealing with it in their way by laughing and giving people the face. You…
I don’t know what it is about hibachi in particular but like 1 out of 4 times I go you get the chef that teases and probs to a degree that just almost crosses the line, and they think they’re just being entertaining. I’m not surprised to hear this at all.
