IMO it’s the “slide”...if you watch DK while holding <- then hitting -> it’s not a instant (old school) switch of direction, he actually sort of spins his wheels for a bit and you see dust kick up. Weirdly it feels more like SMB 2 than anything DK related.

I get the whole controller thing but playing with a joy con in each hand is really what made the switch so ground breaking to me.
