I’m sorry you don’t approve of my lifestyle choices of sampling dangerous metallic-tasting water from ominous Cold War relics. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Someone posted this here when TLJ first came out, and I think it perfectly summarizes the critical flaw with Johnson’s attempt to “subvert expectations.”

“Subverting expectations is good storytelling, but not by doing any random thing. If that were true, good storytelling would be easy.

Okay, but none of that addresses the issues with TLJ. There were many problems. TLJ ended on hopelessness and wonderment about why we should care about any of these people. With weird character decisions that didn’t make plot sense. ESB was hopeful at the end, even though the heroes spent entire movie losing. They

I dont think that was the plan. Hans story wasnt really explored or developed in Force Awakens, and TLJ just disregarded Lukes character arc and offed him.  if thats what they intended they went 0/3

To be fair TLJ was basically ‘Star Wars’ THROWN IN THE TRASH

No, no it is not. Rey has no journey in that move and can do everything with no problem. The entire plot of we are keeping this escape plan secret was dumb as hell. No reason for the Casino planet at all. Finn did jack shit. It made every single character unlikable outside of Chewie.

Don’t say objectively unless you’re correct. I’d say Force Awakens was the best of the Disney trilogy, that said, I prefer Revenge of the Sith to anything from the sequel trilogy.

TFA was easily a better movie, it just was also a remake of ANH so it loses points for being lazy and hamstringing the entire trilogy with a rehashed plot. Johnson tried to fix it, but it was a mess, and then TLJ tried to re-fix it and broke it more.

I don’t hate the story Last Jedi tried to tell (outside of the Canto Bight stuff), I just thought it was boring and had bad humor, gave us no chance to get to know Finn or Poe, killed off Phasma and wasted Leia.

Why does this website refuse to delve into the plot and canon related reasons why a considerable amount of people strongly dislike The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker?

The difference is The Empire Strikes Back is pretty awesome, and The Last Jedi kinda’ sucks.

“Hey, kids, let’s rap. You know who really hated excessive grinding? Moses. He had to grind 40 years before he got to the end of the Egypt level.”

No-knock raids should be illegal.

If those leaks are real, - and I hope they aren’t - I am definitely sitting this one out.

Throughout Disco and Picard’s seasons, I’ve talked about how my problem with the shows is that they creators don’t seem to either understand or buy into the philosophy of Trek. It’s not about the choices that an individual character makes, but how those choices are treated and how the background morality of the

I agree with 90% of this.

It really should be pointed that that was some weak-ass Deus ex Machina (pun intended) near the final episode. An all-powerful swiss army knife Imagination tool? (which fixes any plot hole too complicated to bother fixing otherwise), ta-da, Riker shows up re-instated with a fleet larger than the whole of Star Fleet?

Clicking the link helps since it lays out her plan. Like increasing Title 1 funding, and creating grants. Her plan also has links to literature from sources like the NEA and school districts.
