Not a bad choice at all. The chap from the Victory by Design videos would be excellent too, but I reckon he'd be a bit too critical to appreciate a lot of the lower end of Euro classics.

What a great idea. This is what I look for in an excellently done engine swap. Something that enhances the character of a car, and shows original thought and care, rather than just creating another shell around an LS engine.

Good way to power, but boring and unoriginal.

Yes please, but not Alex Roy. Someone like a cross between James May and Chris Harris.

Good god yes. Love the Group 44 team, and their commitment to one nation's cars in particular.

I think you've just earnt yourself a free beer at any motoring event you go to.

Have you contacted any estate agents to see if they have any knowledge of the house or the area?

Good man. As you can probably guess from my name, I'm a little bit biased.

Alfa Romeo Alfasud back from the hospital where I was born.

Drive this. I imagine it's a similar experience, except people will literally shit themselves from how menacing it looks.

Sounds great. I'm very jealous of the LeMons scene in the US, although I suspect that there would be far fewer cheap cars around if it was popular here. That might be where they all go actually, hoovered up by cheap racing series.

Sweet. Should be ripe for an engine swap. So many options. Personally, I'd be tempted by something like an M54B30 from a 330i, but the world's your oyster when it comes to excellent BMW engines.

The only thing that I can see that's positive is that there's been a year on year rise in uninsured drivers as more and more people can't afford it. Eventually, one would like to think that the government would do something, but our government has a poor history with helping our young people, so I doubt it.

You know I don't know. As far as I know they're all UK based, and a quick search about French insurance suggests that the systems are different enough to make separate companies likely.

Good point. While that's pretty much the same number of companies as the UK, you'd expect that if the big companies were operating at a profit-margin that was unfeasible for smaller companies then there wouldn't be any small companies left.

The only thing that I can think of is economies of scale. As the US population is so much larger than the UK, there are many more potential customers so you can afford to operate at a lower profit-margin for each individual customer. That would only work if there are much larger insurance companies in the US though.

There are 3 levels of insurance here in the UK. Third party covers only for damage caused to the other car (and any collateral); third party, fire and theft covers for fire and theft as well (funnily enough) and fully comprehensive will cover your own vehicle. There isn't much of a price difference between the 3,

It utterly baffles me. I haven't a clue, and no-one at any insurance company has been able to give me a satisfactory answer. Personally, I think they've just caught onto a good thing and are refusing to let go.

Yup. No chance of getting a GTi insured as a first car. To be honest, the only reason I was able to get the Alfa on the road as my second car is because my parents helped me. It calms down a lot when you hit 20, and steadily goes down from there until around 25, but that's a big chunk of time driving tedious cars.
