Tippity top: Alfa Romeo. No other marque combines their heritage of great cars and great racing with that slight underdog factor that us Brits love so much.

I was there. It was really bloody loud. Glorious.

You may have given me a reason to go back to Rajasthan. Love that place.

So that's what, 500rpm short of the redline of the 1964 Honda S600. Nice one.

I absolutely love India, and this is exactly the same reaction as I had the moment we stepped onto the bus to Jodhpur and he did a u-turn in the middle of what was presumably a 3-lane dual carriageway.

Good point. I would have thought they'd sell well.

I'll nominate the Honda S500/S600/S800. Tiny little things, with DOHC 4-carb I4s, developed using Honda's motorcycle experience. As such, they redlined between 8500 and 9500rpm. That's stratospheric for the early 60s.

Ah yes, I remember that now. I wonder if this one's an evolution of that first concept.

The Disco Volante was a series of concept cars from the '50s based on the Alfa Romeo 1900. This modern interpretation is likely continuing that link.

This sounds fantastic. I love India, and Mahindra sound like a fantastic company. They're like the anti-Ferrari. Completely unpretentious and friendly.

Jaguar with the X-Type and Maserati with the Biturbo come to mind but I don't actually think there is anything wrong with moving downmarket with a car. The issue with both of the X-Type and the Biturbo is that they were poor attempts to move downmarket.

I sincerely hope my Spit6 will have something of this mentality about it.

I will be doing this, whether any future SO wants to or not.

'Alfa Returns to America'

Bummer.

Please say this is in the UK. Please say this is in the UK. Please say this is in the UK.

Where abouts in India? Big place.

I'd much rather they cut costs with interior switches, rather than cutting costs somewhere it actually matters. Like suspension or engine parts.

I don't mind the new Vanquish. The DBS was never a restrained looking car, and I reckon this is a fair evolution of it.
