Apologies if someone has already posted this, but the NY Times suggested 3 ways that a consumer can take action. The last paragraph addresses the issue of tipping.

Here in NYC, there was a 4-part news report on our local news cable channel (NY1) on ways to reduce expenses without reducing the experience:
Wait, what? “Ill treatment by HUSBAND” gets the WIFE admitted to the asylum?! Holy fucking patriarchy.
Brooklyn Represent!
I’m totally in agreement with you. I’ve been thinking for a while to buy this jacket, but then I lose all the pockets in the summer months:
I’ve been looking for work for the last 2 months. I wrote my resume in MS Word: the text is in Verdana 9pt and the header (which has my name) is in Future 28pt. Am I doing it wrong? ‘Cause I think the resume looks pretty damn spiffy if you ask me.
Thank you. This is a brilliant tip.
This is good timing as I am currently looking for a job (and while I prefer full-time, I’m also considering contract, but I just don’t know if I should go with W2 or corp-to-corp).
I agree that parts of Brooklyn was really dangerous back in the day and some parts are still are. I remember when I moved to Prospect Heights as a kid (2 blocks from Grand Army Plaza and the museum) and how dangerous my mother thought Park Slope was. She’s still there, some 30 years later, and her apartment would…
All that @woohiz says is on the money and there’s still more to come:
To flip it about... this past weekend there was the annual Sakura Matsuri festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. This is a very big thing that celebrates donation of cherry blossom trees to NY back in the early 20th century. I’ve gone there many times but the festival has gotten really crowded in the last few years.
You’re from Brooklyn (and perhaps have moved out) or do you actually live in Brooklyn right now? Because ... if you have seen Downtown Brooklyn in last few years, holy shit HAVE WE GOT SKYSCRAPERS. Luxury condos, rentals and hotels already built up and many more coming. I predict a huge shift of workers from Manhattan…
No, we’ve talked about it before. I don’t think she quite gets how fed up I am. But she will once I do a complete purge of every trace of her from the apartment! :-0
This is EXACTLY what I intend do.
Wow, nice. Just bought it off iTunes.
My go-to jam for my chores. Girl drops it hot.
From personal experience, yes drinking beer while eating hot chilies is an exercise in masochism. But on the other hand, the more spicy food you eat, the higher the tolerance you will build up.
Yes there will be someone that will ALWAYS stick up for cops no matter what they do and how they do it. Here in NYC, that man is Pat Lynch, president of the Policeman's Benevolent Association.
