Tesla doesn’t sell good cars. They sell cool cars that are status symbols. Elon killed the cool factor when he went full fascist. Now that the cars are no longer cool, they’re just overpriced cars with bad build quality.

I’m not even allowed to look at them. My wife is very permissive about the cars I own — at one point, I had six old japanese cars in various states of decay when we had only street parking. Those were okay, but Telsas are an immediate nope.

I don’t even know how the word “woke” means anything to anyone anymore.  It’s just become a political catch all for a belief that a person or group of people have that another person doesn’t like.

100% agreed. I am a political lefty actively pursuing adding an EV to the garage, and will not buy or lease a tesla. Although they are the most price competitive, the biggest reason we won’t get one is Elon’s downfall into being a rightwing edgelord chad.

Owning a Tesla Roadster was a status symbol, like owning a 911, M-Class BMW, or a AMG Mercedes. It was a second car. It showed that you had money.

I think there is also some hard-to-quantify loss of ‘luxury-branding’ for Tesla. It was an obvious luxury brand when it came out with the initial couple cars, but (I think) this is no longer the case for multiple reasons, like stated by many others:

Which is why I brought up Supercharger access. I’ve talked to so many people who felt like Tesla was their only option because of the charging network. Once the dam broke there, suddenly anyone who wants an EV gets the biggest benefit of owning a Tesla without having to buy a Tesla.
