It is not for everyone but I absolutely love Jane the Virgin.  Also, not comedic but very good and worth a binge: Orphan Black.

I actually find a scale helpful because it makes me consider portion sizes which has always been my issue, plus it makes baking much more precise (if the cookbook comes with weights that is much better to use than other forms of measuring).
