Pitchford's actions were still more well-meaning, in a roundabout way. I'm sure in an ideal scenario, they would've been able to sweep A:CM under the rug, and the success of Borderlands 2 would be beneficial to everyone working at Gearbox.

OK, sure. That project was mismanaged, and misrepresented to the public. And yeah, I know there are accusations that they may have diverted funds from it to help with Borderlands 2 (or at least I thought that was the conspiracy theory).

The opinions I've heard of Randy Pitchford, both from staff (on podcasts or interviews or whatever) and the gaming press is that he is pretty amicable. Never really heard any reports of him being a tyrant to work under.

That embargo sounds crazy, since I figured you could usually talk about anything once the review embargo is up, except for like endgame spoilers, or crazy twists like MGS2-oh-shit-you-don't-play-as-Snake.

Yeah, the lack of aliasing on any of the characters is freaking me right out, because the resolution is still super bad on the prerendered background parts which just draws more attention to it. Has to be from an emulator running at a much higher resolution.
