Okay. Let’s get this out of the way. The Handmaid’s Tale is a useless, meaningless soap opera, yet the takeaway, the interpretation of the story is where the value of it lies. It’s what we take from the story that actually matters, not the story itself, but the value of how we interpret that story.

Yes, for convenience sake! Particularly a patriarchy with religion as a basis that would require the cruel lockdown of a group that is the majority of the population. It doesn’t work, and the series proves it, although I don’t think they intended to prove it.

I’m just shooting holes in Atwood’s logic as to how Gilead could function. I’m saying it makes much more sense that a matriarchy (particularly in the modern era) would be in power and not the evil, dirty, violent men. Atwood crosses a bizarre line when she makes it a war of the sexes (using blind religion as a

Uh yeah, I’ve been reviewing the show for two years on my blog. I’ve read the book several times. I’ve read most of Atwood’s work. I do, indeed, know whereof I speak.  Do you often resort to name-calling when you can’t come up with an effective argument?

I tend to ignore people who use the word, “hacky,” to describe thoughts or contemplation.

Not a claim, just an observation.

Uh no, once again, you missed my point.

Wow, it’s like you guys TOTALLY didn’t read what I wrote, or just cherry-picked statements out of context.

I keep thinking about why Gilead doesn’t work. Hear me out. Gilead doesn’t work because its a patriarchy. You make the connection to the motivations of men (as a whole, as a beast) and it never works. Gilead happens when women betray women; when women fight other women, when women destroy women.

“Is there anything the woman can’t do?”

Basically, what could’ve happened was Warren and Naomi (and their Guardians) are arrested, tortured, subjected to interrogation, and then summarily executed. Nick could’ve been captured, tortured, interrogated and then summarily executed as well. Would this “Nation of Gilead” retaliate in any way? I can’t imagine.

God!  Another boring episode!

I, for one, will now be referring to “China” as Western Taiwan.  Thanks to Bridget Phetasy!

Nothing happened in the episode.  It was filler.

June does believe in God. Remember, she conflicted with her mother because she wanted to baptize Hannah. She wouldn’t spit on a Bible. I wouldn’t spit on a Bible, and I’m an atheist. The Bible is a book. June is a book editor. She obviously believes in the freedom and power of words.

All that praise? Terrible episode, and painfully boring. The show spent 57 minutes telling us what we already know. This was filler. Not worth an Emmy. Not worth a Razzie, for crying out loud. It was the Army of the Dead episode of the series.

Thus proving my point that men and women have very different definitions of rape as it occurs to their respective genders.

I don’t believe anything ANY celebrity says.  Sorry.

And then posting them on Tik-Tok!

The book and the series are not the works of people who understand capitalism.  Canada is socialist by its nature.  Gilead is also a product of socialism.
