Granted, it’s a sliding scale.
Granted, it’s a sliding scale.
Having sex while pregnant is not generally dangerous, not in every case, but having sex as some form of a labor inducement is incredibly dangerous and misguided. When my wife was pregnant, we were specifically warned not to try to induce labor. There is a procedure Doctors will conduct in order to facilitate labor. It…
Let’s say you had a great idea for re-building a society after a lot of bad news (i.e. sterility, infertility, pollution) came down the pipe, but ...
So then the show isn’t actually white men versus The World. It’s all men versus all women. I’m glad we cleared that up.
Never heard it. Matter of fact, Doctors tend to not want you to do anything that will result in labor inducement when it’s not under their watchful eye. Sounds like something a new-age moron would do.
I just think privileged white liberals need to shut the fuck up when tempted to provide commentary on human suffering. They know nothing of human suffering. I also think they should avoid bringing it up in conversation for the sake of virtue signaling. A very condescending tone is taken, and it’s not particularly…
Song of Solomon in the Bible condones sex for pleasure.
You would need discipline, a sense of order to run a society, and it seems in Gilead there are a lot of people looking over your shoulder and standing in line to take your place.
Both of those actors are too good for this material.
I feel for you, but what you went through was real. This show is manufactured by people who do not understand abuse and it’s psychological implications (among other items). The show is not the real world.
The show is absolutely about rape. The book was Atwood’s reaction to the rise of reproductive rights and birth control, the pill and it’s consequences. While the book was a slim “false” memoir with interesting talking points, the show is a lurid piece of exploitation about men with machine guns pushing girls around.
I guess masturbation is off-the-table in Gilead, too?
I’ve noted this several times. There is a disturbing lack of logic and consistency in all of the characters. I don’t think the writers take the material seriously, and they don’t have an exit strategy. Moss and some of the others are staggeringly good, but her performance is wasted with mediocre material and repetitive…
So basically it’s, “We knew we were going to hate you when you said this.” Is that what I’m reading into your statement? That’s called confirmation bias.
You so FUNNY!
And I like to induce sleep by watching Game of Thrones. Granted, it’s not for everyone, but I like my style.
The fuck are you angry about? Yeesh, have a nap, Mary. Yeah, it’s called, “news,” which is complete horse of the shit variety. You’re so angry, mofo, remember that your strength flows from the Force, but beware the dark side. I don’t think you’re old enough to have this convo. I’m sure they’re re-running Spongebob…
What I’m SAYING ... is that this “news” was manufactured many, many years before. It, only now, becomes an issue, because it fits into the narrative of a President who apparently hates women, wants to imprison women, wants to “rip children from their parents.” It’s horseshit, nobody cares. Nobody cares. Obama didn’t…
Well, life is choice, and yes, there may be shitty choices to make, but they are choices, but I agree in part. It takes a certain kind of person - man, woman, child - to stand up and fight back. Our history is filled with those people, those heroes. This show is depressing, because we, as the audience, are handmaids…
Well put.
