In a weird, sick way, it’s progress! It’s like, “Hey! Why are we only enslaving and raping 72% of our population? Let’s get everybody pregnant.” Gilead put race past them to fight the existential threat. It is absolutely about class, and the fact that women have it far worse than men only points to the convenience of Gilead’s argument and ultimate mission, which is to re-populate the species. It is their only means to combat what amounts to an existential threat, but killing humanity in an attempt to save humanity…
