Living in a rural area, and it being late October, I would hardly call a deer in the road an edge case. I’ve probably seen as many of them driving this week as I have red lights.

The car did alert after hitting the deer, it just alerted RFK, Jr. to come pick up the carcass and dispose of it in Central Park. That’s the new protocol.
not just the parking meters. all the tolls on interstates 88, 355, 294, etc.. (all in the chicago area) were bought by a private company for a lump sum years ago. now, your toll goes to the private company, not a dime goes to chicago.
Exactly, I do a shit ton of outdoorsy stuff and go down a shit ton of trails to do them in a....
I hope they have an option for a street setup on the truck (and suv?). I like everything the trucks doing, but face it im not super rugged outdoorsey boy and know my lane, its not offroading. Though I like and want literally everything else its puttin down.
If you think that’s bad, have a listen to a podcast called Cautionary Tales, specifically the episode called, ‘The City That Sold Itself To Wall Street’.
As someone who wrote RFP responses to state and local governments for speed cameras, red light and parking enforcement, and toll collection systems, I’m shocked the city is getting that much.
For every $50 fine paid, $17 goes to the city, and $33 goes to the camera company.
I love that the announcers (Jacques and Hinch at least) refuse to hide their contempt for the team name. At least once per race there’s a similar interaction:
Performance wise, Mercedes’ impersonation of a rock being tossed into the deepest part of the ocean for the 2022 season was worse but watching Red Bull tear itself apart has been filled with schadenfreude.
Norris was unlucky that Ferrari found their footing. He might have had a shot at it, but with the Ferrari pace resurgence making them look equally quick as McLaren I don’t think he’ll pull it off. I’d love to see it though.
I’ve never seen a team just fall apart as quick as RBR.
I think Max is only going to win the championship because there is no clear cut #2. Norris might have done it if Piastri and LeClerc hadn’t come on so strong and been competitive, but it looks more like the three of them are just going to cannibalize each other trying to run him down.
Yeah, it’s especially unfortunate because every name sounds worse when you put ‘Cash App’ in front of it.
Very true, but I don’t know why the media insists on printing all of the sponsors for this particular team, when they don’t do it for any others. This post references both Red Bull and Mercedes, but they didn’t write “Oracle Red Bull Racing” or “Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.” Just call it Racing Bulls or RB like…
“Visa Cash App Racing Bulls”
Unfortunately our current Supreme Court would have no problem jailing women on the off chance they might be going for an abortion. I once went to a PP for routine care and got followed and screamed at by protesters right up to the painted line around the building. I wanted to turn around and go home because it was…
I think you are missing the broader point that the technology has unintended consequences. Digital error correction and validation isn’t a fix. No GPS signal, no detailed location information. We have the means to track people via this technology and its been implemented in everyone’s on-person device. Yes, its the…
Yes, I am aware of how the technology works. Its ubiquity and reliance have given rise to volunteering our location far more often than we should. That being said, radio triangulation via terrestrial means is far less accurate, which is why my GPS is off most times.
