I know it would be mixing metaphors games, but it would have been neat to have the Majora's Mask moon in this design

Narratively and thematically, it is quite nuanced in its treatment of violence.
I think the assumption that GTA promotes violence is correct. Does it *cause* violence? Probably not. But the fact that GTA assumes a violent attitude for the player character, and largely doesn't allow for lawful interaction says a lot, both about how Rockstar views game design and about how we expect games to…
yeah, but the fact that it needs a fan theory to add spice is not a Good Thing. Where other stories already have depth that can be added to, Destiny is just a wading pool that Bungie hopes people will bring their own excavators to.
I've been following his updates and, even if the game turns out mediocre, it will have been worth it. Hearing his thoughts on game design and watching how he's putting everything together has been fascinating
Exactly! The legacy of the Source engine cannot be understated.
Yeah, at least wait until HL3 is out to....
seems no different than hearing a song on the radio and having it get stuck in your head for the next few days
Between Steam, Origin, PS Store, Xbox Marketplace, and the Nintendo eShop, one can get any game on its release date, no waiting (± download time). GameStop knows this, and they know that they only way to get people to keep walking through their doors is to offer something exclusive. But it won't be long before online…
Also good, if we're sticking to just modifying gameplay, and not adding extra civs, is the faster aircraft mod (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/fi…). All it does is speed up the animations, but when you've got an entire fleet of bombers, cutting those animations in half saves so much time.
My favorite mod set is the Mass Effect mods (http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filed…) that implement essentially every faction from the mass effect universe including Reapers. Reapers are super OP, of course, and even the other ones are pretty OP compared to the normal civs. Within the mod set though, everything is…
I think the blame for The Happening lands squarely on M. Night Shyamalan. Marky Mark did the best he could with awful material.
While it sounds a lot like STALKER, though, it doesn't look it. There are bright splashes of colour throughout the art shown, which is a nice change of pace from a group of developers whose previous projects have specialised in grey, black and brown.
Yes. In fact, any time I see someone playing any video game, I tell them that they really should be playing Spacewar!
Every time I see someone playing 2048, or someone brings it up, I can't help but be that asshole that says "well, actually, you should be playing Threes." I don't like it, and I probably shouldn't do that, but then people shouldn't be playing 2048 in the first place
That's why their presentations are so engaging. They actually show us a unique experience instead of showing us another homicidal white guy and claiming a unique experience
Oh, I totally agree that we need to put pressure on the entire industry. When there are more severed heads than female presenters (according to Polygon) during the press conferences, we've got a problem. But the industry is composed of individual devs, so at some level, we do need to target individual studios. I think…
Yeah, we are touchy. We're tired of video games only representing and catering to half of the population. If the option to play as women has been available in previous games, then not including it in sequels is a serious oversight that needs to be addressed.
I also find myself trying to compare it to Deus Ex. I'm finally playing DX:HR Director's Cut though, so it is on my mind... But when you start talking about stealth hacking shooting in the near future with a gravel-voiced main character, the comparison makes itself.
It looks like Watch_Dogs (especially in this trailer) definitely allows that GTA-style of play. However, what I think they've shown in other trailers (and what I very much hope is the case) is that if you don't want to go in guns blazing, if you don't want to end up in a shoot-out with the cops every 15 minutes, then…
