I thought it would be a certainty she took her own life, given her years of struggles with mental health.  And yet, the fact she died of natural causes, almost seems worse to take.  Because she suffered so much.  Really makes you believe one can die of a broken heart.

God help whoever makes a really GOOD joke at her expense.

While it doesn’t take any of the sadness away, at least I’m glad she didn’t harm herself. RIP.

I ended up seeing her live completely by chance, when a fruiend invited me to fill a seat at a Lincoln Center revue of Martin Gaye classics featuring various artists, at the last minute. I didnt know she’d be performing.

“...as her level of fame is an essentially unprecedented phenomenon that the public is still figuring out how to handle.”

This is true. Not every nutjob conspiracy theory needs to be reported. Consign them to reddit subthreads where they belong and let that be that.

Sure but does “the paper of record” have to dignify it with an op-ed?  This is tabloid bullshit that any serious journalist should be well above.

That checks out. The whole Styles thing was idiotic. He’s been flamboyant his entire career, and in 2023 that means he HAS to be gay or he’s violating some rule? Wanting to be inclusive in who you appeal to as a fanbase means you’re sexually teasing them?? Talk about a regressive social view. That’s the type of thing

I have no issue with fanfiction (I mean, it isn’t too far afield of me, say, shamelessly aping Resident Evil in my middle school short stories). I have a major issue with people drowning in barrels of escapism, lil’ legs kicking away, unmindful of whom they might be kicking.

The question I have is how the New York Times editors read the piece and thought yeah sure let’s publish.

NYT has been floating like one step up from the Post for quite a while now.  I know I stopped taking it seriously during the Iraq war.

I’m not particularly a Swift fan (to put mildly and politely) but somehow found myself reading that NYTimes piece. It was horrifying and said way more about toxic fanbases than Swift herself. I also noted that it was the same writer who accused Harry Styles of queerbaiting. I can’t believe it was given that level of

Did it really have that attitude? Mrs. Banks is a bit of a flibbertigibbet but I don’t see that movie belittling her cause. I sure as hell can say it was my first exposure to the concept of the suffragette.

Dot is like a great horror-movie Final Girl. I can’t wait to see her whup Roy’s ass.

I have loved this season so much. I am excited that I get to see it play out over the next two weeks and simultaneously wishing I could watch it for another two months.

I have gotten the idea that none of the people that are dealing with Roy understand just how crazy (and therefore dangerous) he really is, because they are sane people. Witt seems to be getting it now, and my guess is he left because he truly (finally) understood that Roy would kill him without a second thought. Same

Holy shit...Mr. All in the Family wrote that skit? Never knew that.

Would you accept old-timey “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?” If so, Bioshock: Infinite has you covered:

Did we just find out Tillman’s third wife is named Karen? Could that BE more perfect?

Obviously there are no guarantees in ‘Fargo’, but I like the chances of Trooper Witt surviving. He strikes me as one of those thoroughly decent, determined characters that the show likes to see triumph.
