I mean…is your problem with the fact that Lena was rich and spoilt growing up? I can get real bitter about it sometimes, most people will never be able to get the connections that she had.
But.
#richpeopleproblems art can still be great to watch. Any good art is transcendent so even if you're not in the immediate

I'm cool with it. Her sex scenes (usually) aren't indulgent. Especially those hilarious sex scenes with Hannah and Adam in the early seasons where he'd insult her during sex in the most outlandish ways (something about calling her a cabbage patch doll..?)

She literally said in multiple interviews that it was satirical - in fact, I recall one interview where she said folks never seemed to need people like Noah Baumbach or Whit Stillman to clarify their positions whereas she has to do it every single interview.

I would consider Girls more in line with a comedy of manners, whereas Broad City is a straight up stoner comedy.
And also - Girls is pretty clearly a satire on upper middle class Millenial New Yorkers, you know the kind of people who would…do all things that the jerk characters in the show do.

I think Allison WIlliams and Zosia have a no nudity clause. Jemima Kirke gets her share of the nudity too.

Morgan, is that you?

Eddie's incredibly smug "Well Dad, maybe if you applied yourself, your grades would be higher" to Louis's restaurant review grade was amazing.

Also IRL Mindy with BJ Novak.

Seriously. They're ADORABLE.

It's a good movie, and groundbreaking in many ways too but *kanye shrug*

Totally agree. I can't believe I forgot to mention it, TPS is one of my favourite movies of all time. Katherine Hepburn is glorious.

I still think it counts as comedy because after all the "bits" were just ones I could recall off of the top of my head. I think a lot of rom-coms are very angsty and dramatic - after all, the grand gesture is one of the staples of the genre.

What? A lot of the comedy is subtle - I mean, it's Austen - but it is pretty comedic. There aren't very many lines or something but I think a lot of the humor in the movie comes from the absurdity of most of the characters (except Eleanor, the Captain and Willoughby. I can think of a dozen comedic scenes and bits off

Yes the "rom" part is more subdued in it, but it still counts as one imo and all things considered, it's far superior than Say Anything which is just a basic teen romance.

Smiles of A Summer Night and Sense & Sensibility needed to be on there! (i do admit that my dislike of Say Anything borders on the irrational, but still, both the movies are objectively better than Say Anything)

Both The Awful Truth and Adam's Rib would've been a better fit than the Apartment. I remember that movie completely dampening my spirits and crushing my teen romantic soul when I first saw it.

Also Short Cuts, but seriously. There was like ZERO chemistry there.

The fact that goddamned Say Anything made this list over Bergman's Smiles of A Summer Night and Sense & Sensibility is criminal.
Other movies I wish were on here : His Girl Friday, The Awful Truth, Return to Me, Adam's Rib (I honestly think it's better than Annie Hall)

Obviously stupid to argue with Roman Holiday, but a runner up position for "Return To Me" would've been nice. The movie is funny and charming as hell. The Bonnie Raitt scenes with her family and the old people in the restaurant scenes are all hilarious. And unlike some emotionally stunted wank fest movies (cough, Judd

Enough Said! Nicole Holofcener makes such good films. She's seriously underrated.
