Is it possible this had nothing to do with “wanting” the car and was more about staying A-list at the local Porsche dealership for that coveted GT3 RS allocation?

I figured the msrp must be around $53k, but it was originally $30k! Who is paying $20k over msrp for a 3 year old Beetle??
He should have put that first. I immediately said to myself... “he’s going to be flooded with requests for Tellurides...assuming anyone clicks all the way through the slide show”
Used prices are insane. My brother bought one in March, and paid around $58k including taxes. He doesn’t necessarily need a car and just got a cash offer to sell for $62k. He made $4k driving a new Y for 9 months
I have a 2021 340 and I doubt I’ve used the touch screen more than a handful of times in 10 months. Between the steering wheel controls and the idrive controller, there’s really no need for the touch screen
I’ve wondered what is going to happen to all these people buying Telluride’s with $10k market adjustments and probably financing for 72 or even 84 months. They’re going to be so far under water once the market corrects itself and will probably have negative equity for the next 5 years
They buy even if you’re not buying from them. I sold a car to them a few weeks ago without buying one and it was an amazingly easy process. They offered $2500 more than Vroom and came within a week to pick it up. They paid off my the remainder of my loan to Toyota and deposited the rest of the payment in my bank…
I consistently know more than the sales people and it drives me nuts. Great convo I overheard at the BMW dealer a few months ago:
Isn’t money laundering an assumption on some of the BAT purchases? They’re so far beyond anything that’s reasonable.
You can get 12 year financing on a super car or pretty much any car that’s expected to hold its value. I think you need to put down something like 20% though
You’re just angry because you thought this was a hoax and didn’t stock up on toilet paper
I was actively shopping for a new car until early last week when I decided it’s better to wait a few months to see how everything plays out. It’s likely to have an effect on my business, I just don’t know how much of an effect yet. I suspect there’s lots of other people in a similar situation.
i thought all these illegal driving stunts took place in “Mexico”
I passed my X3 35 over to my wife when I got a new car and I don’t think she’s ever utilized more than about 100hp. It seems wasteful from such a great engine. If I swapped it for a diesel X3 I don’t think she’d ever know the difference
My mom and one of my friends both traded in their second generation RX when one of the swiveling headlights died. The repair was shockingly expensive because the entire unit needed to be replaced and probably recalibrated, and you can’t drive around with one headlight for any length of time
I don’t think the market is rational for these anymore. I was in Nantucket a few weeks ago and saw a couple G wagons of a similar vintage driving around. There’s so many Wagoneers and Defenders driving around there that this is kind of a cool alternative
I sat in one recently waiting for my car to be serviced and was really impressed. Too bad there isn’t a back seat for a baby and a dog...
Uber doesn’t care because they’re desperate for drivers and it would ruin their business if they actually had to care about things like that. The quality of Ubers around Boston are getting noticeably shittier as they take older and more beat up cars. I consistently see Ubers with sagging body panels, huge dents, etc
