“[Musk] said riding in traditional cars would be like driving ‘a steam engine with a side of quiche’” (from the bbc)

Back when I had an R53 I used to leave it unlocked with the key in the cup holder. I think I was hoping someone would steal it.

Big 2 and a half.

I wrote a whole essay but I decided it was too long (although this is still pretty long). My r53 mini cooper saved my relationship after almost ruining it. I had bought it as a “practical winter car” because it was fwd and not a convertible. I needed a car to drive while my NA miata sat in the garage all winter. It

When you say they offer this to owners.... how new of a BMW do you have to own?

Yes! My fiance and I bought our house 40% for the yard/location (we have dogs and I insist on sidewalks) and 50% for the garage. It’s a 2.5 car garage. We’ve since re-poured the concrete for the floor, insulated it, and installed a lift. It’s awesome.

It’s for marketing but also that sweet sweet complexity reduction. Ever notice how Honda and Toyota have very very few options on their vehicles? It helps them save money and build to a higher quality.

Mid 2000s Honda Accord. I used to have a beige (sorry, Sierra Sand Metallic) 06 and I lost that shit in more parking lots than I can count. You can get a pretty well equipped one for fairly cheap PLUS with the V6 it’s surprisingly peppy.

In that case: Bonus pictures of her (and her siblings’) car interests.

I’m too late for this to get any attention but this is Echo the golden retriever at a rest stop in PA. She loves cars. She’ll try to jump in to any car she sees open. It’s a struggle when I’m walking her and someone is trying to load their car.

It also makes it super easy to spot your uber/lyft coming from several blocks away.

Looks like I live about 10 miles southwest of you so if you get stuck along Woodward hmu.

I love Torch’s first suggestion but I’d also want to add the possibility of an E-Class wagon. I’m not sure how well it would fit the dog’s owner but with the back seat folded down there is tons of room for the dog. It even comes in an AMG version.

On the opposite end of things I have a positive story about a car as a gift.

Neutral: Doesn’t seem like a huge problem to me. Programs get cancelled/put on hold/delayed all the time. I’m more concerned about the age of some of the existing products (Grand Cherokee, Charger/Challenger/300) and the lack of a clear plan for replacements.

Why should he have to pull over for the passenger (me) to use the phone?

Locking devices that are paired to a car would be unbelievably frustrating for passengers. I often have my phone paired to the car (for music or calls) even when my husband is driving.

Dodge Durango R/T! It’s surprisingly peppy with the 5.7L and handles really well for something of it’s size.

Makes sense. That sounds awesome. I’m using an 2002 Grand Cherokee (5000lb towing) to tow a small sailboat and a caterham but I’m trying to keep an eye out for what I might pick up in 5 or so years.

Did you test drive a Macan? I’ve heard they’re one of the best SUVs out there for driving dynamics.
