Sorry but the series stayed very creative and charming during those years. Bart was marketed but it was never at the expensive of the characters or quality of the show.
Which is pretty ignorant to expect everyone who grows up in an environment where everyone around them does crime because it’s all they know.
The older Simpson relied way less on jokes and more on character and getting some great to decent little stories told.
The human brain is still growing when a person is 18, combine that with no real life experience and yeah these are kids.

Well lock on is still in the Wii version, being able to more freely move and aim is something that came about because of the ease of the Wii pointer control.
It’s not bad controls though again the game isn’t suppose to play like a FPS.
Prime isn’t meant to be played like a shooter so I don’t see what the issue is.
Lock-on prevents the game falling too far into first person shooter territory and it was pretty genius actually.
Eh, new games that feel like games that could’ve been released 10 or 20 years ago are what I consider portable games.
