Wait, so I’m supposed to be carrying slippers with me all the time? Some house visits aren’t planned, they just happen.

Like, chill, trust me, no one gives a shit about your socks,

At least the host should be kind enough to meet you at the door and ask you to take off your shoes there, instead of shrieking at you when you’re already two steps inside.

Anyone who values clean floors over their guests not being in pain shouldn’t be allowed to socialize with other humans anyway.

I don’t mind a shoes-off rule in a home, but let me know that shit BEFORE I get there. I may not have planned for such a rule and might be wearing my I’m-doing-laundry-tomorrow socks or been running around all day and my feet can build up a substantial funk. I hate fucking getting to someone’s house and they “Oh, by

NOPE.

I remember the 80's class divide quite well, you either owned domestic and were on the middle to lower rungs (and staying there), or Japanese and moving on up, or German, indicating you’d made it and had the keys to the cookie jar. VW sat right between Japanese and German, and Hyundai/Yugo meant you had bad credit.

Never driven a Honda manual (although I’ve heard they are delicious) but I’ll take up the Mazda6 side of that bad take.

I commute 140 miles a day, and have for almost 3 years. I can only think of a handful of times after working a long shift where I would think, “I wish this was an automatic”. But almost every time I hop in my F250, or my suburban when I had it, I would say “damn I wish this was a manual”.

When I went back to a manual I found myself no longer wanting to check my phone while driving. This is because I was no longer bored half to death.

A work truck is better with an automatic transmission without question. When you’re maneuvering a trailer or hauling a load of crap around, having to manage the clutch is just one extra thing to occupy brain space when it could be better used to manage driving carefully to avoid the giant gopher hole that will make

The biggest takeaway from using a U-Haul trailer on my manual pickup was the smell of the clutch after trying to back that thing into the driveway.

Anything that I am involved in stop/start traffic or urban areas.

Tow rig.

If we’re talking SciFi TV series now, then I have toi mention the Battlestar Galactica reboot. To this day, I think of it as The Best TV Series Ever.
