Ah, you're right. I really hope they keep that aspect of their relationship, then. Looking at actresses who were born the same year as Affleck…Amanda Peet, maybe? I can see her in that part.

I can't remember if they specified how old Nick's sister was, but I pictured Lizzy Caplan. I guess since Affleck's almost a decade older than his character, they've decided that the age of the other characters won't matter too much. Annoying but not unexpected.

Jessica Chastain was exactly the person I imagined when I was reading the book. But I like Rosamund Pike a lot, so I approve of this casting.

I pictured Chris Messina for some reason, but I assumed it was going to be Bradley Cooper in the end. Seriously, isn't he the first person everyone thinks of when you hear the words "punchable face"?

True story, bro:

Because Paranormal Activity 5 was (until a few days ago) supposed to open on the last weekend in October, and the remake of Carrie is opening the weekend before that.

If the show itself had been much better during the first two seasons, before everyone (understandably) gave up on it, I really think that Linden/Holder would have the potential to be an all-time classic TV partnership. That's how great they are together.

When I told my friend how excited I was that Richard Armitage was going to be in the Hobbit movies, I briefly failed to register her expression of shock and confusion.

For some reason, I have a vivid memory of the film critic for my local newspaper at the time arguing that the best person in Lost in Space was Matt LeBlanc.

He didn't play an American on Lie to Me. I read somewhere that he took the role specifically with the condition that the character be English.

On another website, I had someone flip out at me because I mentioned that Rose Byrne is in "The Place Beyond the Pines."

He wasn't in Thank You for Smoking?

I really don't understand why they aren't doing the results the way they did all the way back in the first season, when the show was also only on one night. The first week was all performances, and the next night, after voting had closed, they taped the results segment that would air at the beginning of next week's

The ending of this episode is really strange. The kids are going off to college, they know their "grandmother" is going back to the factory, and their good-bye is basically consists of "Later, grandma!" I mean, kids get pretty upset when their natural grandparents die and the bodies are buried. How are they not

"-When they broke up, Jim hasn't said a word of it since."

NCIS seems like perfectly fine TV from the couple of episodes I've seen, but there's one reason that I can't tune in regularly: Tony. How is that character not punched in the face several time per episode? What a irritating jackass.

This is my favorite because it seems like something that Brad Pitt would actually say.

@avclub-6fe1e85f49aff7aaf3710a9707135ef8:disqus Yeah, if River Song were a full-time companion, her cleverness would turn into obnoxious smugness after two episodes. The less of her, the better (and I say that as a general fan of the character).

Just out of curiosity, are there nitwits out there who actually draw an eye for "i" when writing? That seems to defeat the purpose of writing in textspeak. It would take longer to draw an eye than just write the letter.

@Roswulf:disqus  Yeah, the idea of Jess having "spark" or "charisma" is news to me. He's that guy that we all went to high school with, the one who was an insufferable asshole to everyone around him and then was pissed about no one "getting" him, which led to him being a bigger asshole, and so on.
